New tech allows text messages to be projected on to contact lenses

The technology developed by Belgian researchers from Ghent University’s centre of micro-systems technology allows certain information such as text messages from a mobile phone to be displayed to a “fully pixelated contact lens displays”.

Now that this innovation is working atleast to display simple text messages, the researchers are now working with the word-displaying application but say it would not be available for a few years.

This technology is invented keeping specific applications in mind such as showing road directions or projecting text messages. It could also, possibly be used for medical purposes as it can be used to control light transmission towards the eye’s retina if there’s a damaged Iris.
