New Ubuntu OS set to launch Jan 2nd; will have touch feature

A countdown teaser for Ubuntu’s website with the line “So close, you can almost touch it.” suggests that the open source OS that is set to be released on January 2nd would have touch support. It’s not really a surprise since Canonical’s founder Mark Shuttleworth made it clear that the new OS would have full mobile and tablet support for Ubuntu 14.04 sometime in 2014. The company even announced Ubuntu for Android last year.

To keep a track a on the count down, we refer you to Ubuntu’s main site. For those who don’t know, even Samsung is planning to go the open source way with Tizen. So we would most likely see Open Source OS’s being widely adopted by end users.
