Following the release of the most recent Call of Duty Game, set during World War 2, it’s no surprise to hear that the Battlefield series was looking towards creating their own WW2 title.
Well, reports suggest that sources close to EA and Dice have discovered that the next title in the Battlefield series will not just be set in WW2, but will also release this year!
Depending on who you believe, the next game is either being referred to as Battlefield V or Battlefield 2. While the latter sounds logical (since the previous game was named after World War One – Battlefield One) there is, of course, one small problem, there is already a Battlefield 2. Now, this hasn’t stopped EA doing this before. There has, after all, been two Star Wars Battlefront 2’s.
For myself at least, V works as a better title for several reasons. It can even be considered to be leading on from BF4 (as in the roman numeral v) or it can be considered V as in victory. Something particularly made famous during World War 2 by Sir Winston Churchill.
Back in December, a source who had regularly made predictions about EA and Battlefield releases claimed that it would be Bad Company 3 released this year. Well, while that game is reportedly in development, it seems that EA wants to push Dice to release this WW2 version this year.
While not entirely enjoying the gameplay, I did like Battlefield One. I particularly how it subtlely tried to teach gamers about the War in a way that did not glorify either side.
Having been a massive fan of Battlefield for some time, hopefully, a new release can be good, but caveat emptor! EA and Dice rarely do good releases!
