Next Overwatch Short to Explore Genji and Hanzo’s Past

While many of us anxiously await the imminent release of the new team-based shooter, Overwatch, following its recent open beta phase, Blizzard still has more to come. On the official Overwatch blog, they revealed that the next animated short revolving around the game’s unique characters will be released on May 16th, ahead of the game’s May 24th release.

With every death comes honor. With honor, redemption.” is the teaser line for this latest short, titled “Dragons”.

“Dragons explores the history of conflict between the scions of the Shimada clan: Hanzo and Genji. In this episode, we follow Hanzo as he returns to the siblings’ family home in Hanamura once again to seek redemption… only this time, he finds himself confronted by the ghosts of the past.”

This looks like a clear setup for a showdown between Hanzo, the archer, and Genji, his cybernetic ninja brother. Regardless of the outcome of such a fight, I think the clear victor will be fans of the upcoming game, with both characters being popular picks in the beta and each with their own flair to bring to a fight. As someone who played a lot during the beta, I’d put my money on Genji, with his ability to deflect arrow and bullet alike a powerful skill indeed, but all bets are off outside of the game and from the quality of previous shorts we can definitely look forward to an exciting experience whether you’re on Team Genji or Team Hanzo.
