Nexus Real Silent Case Fan Basic Series Review

Test Setup
Similar to any other fan, we will be comparing the 2* 120 mm as CPU coolers to benchmark them against another very popular fan, the Akasa Viper. We will be using the Akasa Venom heatsink and mounting all 3 fans to this.

We will be using my standard rig with the standard case ventilation the only alterations made will be that the CPU will be overclocked to 3,600 MHz (Stock speed is 3,400). The CPU was only overclocked slightly as these fans are designed to be case fans and are not CPU cooling fans and on the day of testing it was also quite hot and so very hard to keep the ambient temperatures the same. So to keep the test as fair as possible we didn’t want the CPU to be getting too hot in between each test.

We will be using Prime 95 for a simple torture test and it will be run for 10 minutes on all 4 cores. After this the temperatures of all 4 cores will be recorded and averaged. These tests will be repeated 3 times and then averaged for each fan.

We will allow the system to cool down in between each test and the ambient room temperature was kept as close to 20 degrees as possible.

We will also try to compare the sound level omitted of each fan during operation by rating them on a scale of 1 to 10.
