Nintendo Switch 2 Might Have a Pro Controller and Built-in Voice Chat

Nintendo Switch 2 Might Have a Pro Controller and Built-in Voice Chat

A new patent spotted and shared on the Famiboards forum suggests that a new Pro Controller for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 could be on the way. This controller appears to include a 3.5mm headphone jack, which could point to the possibility of built-in voice chat on the system.

With a Nintendo Direct event scheduled for tomorrow, and reports saying it will last around 60 minutes, we’re very close to getting official details on the new console. But until then, rumors continue to pop up about the features we might see in the Switch 2.

On Famiboards, a user noticed what looks like a Pro Controller with a headphone jack—something small but significant that opens the door to new ways players might communicate on the next Nintendo system.

Could We Finally Get Built-in Voice Chat?

Nintendo has often avoided using modern communication tools in its consoles. The current Nintendo Switch requires a complicated mobile app for voice chat in some games, which many players find frustrating. So, if the Nintendo Switch 2 really does come with integrated voice chat, it would be a major improvement.

The Famiboards user, LiC (thanks Gaming Bolt), found technical details about what seems to be a new professional controller, identified by the code BEE-008. This suggests that a redesigned Pro Controller for the Nintendo Switch 2 is in the works—a very likely move by Nintendo.

The device appears to support Bluetooth, NFC, and the 3.5mm headphone jack. That last feature strongly hints at the possibility of voice communication built directly into the system, which would be a big step forward for Nintendo’s online features.

More Reveals Are on the Way

In addition to the upcoming Nintendo Direct, it was recently confirmed that more Switch 2 games will be shown in two Nintendo Treehouse presentations in the coming days. This means even more details about the system and its games are just around the corner.

Stay tuned, because if all these signs are right, the Nintendo Switch 2 could bring some long-awaited changes that players have been hoping for.
