Nintendo Switch 2 To Feature 8″ LCD Display

Nintendo Will Reportedly Repair Joy-Con Drift Issue for Free

2024 is looking highly likely to be the year we see the launch of the Nintendo Switch successor following news of games already being in development and private demos of the console last year. Today more news has come out surrounding the displays which will be used with the console, unfortunately it won’t be OLED at launch.

Nintendo Switch 2 8″ LCD Display

An exclusive report from Bloomberg (Via TechSpot) has seen a claim from Omdia analyst Hiroshi Hayase, that the next gen Nintendo Switch will be equipped with an 8-inch LCD screen as standard. This 8″ screen will come a lot larger than the standard 6.2″ screen, the 7″ OLED screen and even most of the other handheld gaming PCs with the ROG Ally, Steam Deck and MSI Claw at 7″, with the exception of the Lenovo Legion GO at 8.8″.

It’s a safe choice for Nintendo do do LCD for the launch of the Switch 2, as it means they can get away with another OLED refresh down the line which would be the key selling point of a refreshed variant of the console as opposed to minor performance improvements. It also allows the Switch 2 to launch at a cheaper price point which is what the majority of people will be looking for.

As for the rest of the console, it is expected to be using NVIDIA’s Tegra T239 which uses Ampere-based architecture alongside 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 64GB of eMMC storage, improved battery life, and support for DLSS 2 and FSR upscaling technologies.
