After finally revealing their new console plans last week, Nintendo is starting to gear up their whole Switch campaign. So far, most of the details we’ve received have been mostly peripheral to the device and Nintendo hasn’t shared all too many details just yet. This is all set to change early next year as Nintendo is hosting a major Switch event on January 12th.
The Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 is likely going to be live streamed in multiple languages and even feature several physical events. According to Nintendo Japan, there will be events going on in Tokyo on January 14th and 15th as well.
So far, Nintendo has noted that they will be making additional hardware specifications details known at the event. While we know that the chip is a Nvidia Tegra more specific details would be nice to know to establish the console performance level.
More importantly, the event will also establish the price and launch date of the Switch. I suspect the Switch will launch a decent while ahead of the holiday season in 2017. Even more critical is the price which will likely make or break the console. Nintendo will have to find the right price to balance the improved portability and their gaming catalogue against the lower performance it offers compared to the competition.
With about 11 weeks to go, that is plenty of time for more leaks to come about. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait that long before we get some more additional details.
