Nintendo Switch Sales Surpass 10 Million Unit Mark

Nintendo Switch Sales

The Nintendo Switch has undoubtedly been one of the success stories of the year. Following the disappointing (in sales at least) Wii-U, Nintendo needed a hit and boy did they get one.

Despite the Switch suffering from supply issues, the demand has this time been genuine. Why this time? Because Nintendo does have the habit of creating false demand by providing low stock.

Current Switch sales in just the last 9 months have even seen it surpass the total sales of the Wii-U in that consoles entire lifespanIt has even, since its launch, consistently outsold its more powerful rivals at PlayStation and Xbox.

So, why has the Nintendo Switch been a success? Well, there are a variety of reasons that come together to prove that the Switch is a great console.

Reasons for the Nintendo Switch success!

Firstly, the game has seen a regular and solid line of top titles released. Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario. Pretty much every major Nintendo franchise has seen a release, but these releases have been slightly staggered along with other excellent games to keep the hype at peak levels.

Secondly, there are even better games to come. Nintendo has again secured exclusive rights to the new Bayonetta Game. An Ace Attorney game is also on the way. Things are showing no signs of slowing down.

Thirdly, the console has fantastic accessibility. Being able to play on the big TV or the consoles in-built screen on the go, there are no home squabbles with this one.

Fourthly, the timing for the release was perfect. The PS4 and Xbox, despite recent re-releases with 4k support, have just entered their Twilight years. Nintendo successfully released at a point where there was a major console void in the market.

Fifthly, and finally, the price. For under £300 brand new with a game, the Switch was just the right price to be affordable to many.

Therefore, the 10 million sales, as reported by BusinessInsider, might surprise many, but almost on release, I was convinced that Nintendo was back on top with a winner here and you know what? I actually am happy about that.
