Nintendo to End Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Introduces Paid Offline Version

Nintendo has announced it will shut down its popular mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, on November 29, 2024. The game, which launched in 2017, will be replaced by a paid offline version, allowing players to transfer their save data but losing some features like in-app purchases and social interactions.

Paid Version Offers Offline Experience Without Microtransactions

Nintendo expressed gratitude for the support the game has received over the years, stating, “We extend our heartfelt thanks to the many users who have loved Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.” The new version will offer the same basic gameplay without the need for an online connection, but players will no longer be able to use Leaf Tickets, the in-game currency.

This move reflects Nintendo’s decreasing focus on mobile gaming, as Pocket Camp is the fifth mobile title the company has discontinued. Despite mixed reactions from fans, the new offline version might offer a fresh way to enjoy the game without the pressures of microtransactions.
