The Console War that Defined a Generation
A new TV series centered around video games is heading to television screens. However, this drama is not going to be based on any video game IP. Instead, it will chronicle the first great console war between Nintendo and Sega which defined the early 90’s video game culture. In fact, the TV series will be an adaptation of Blake J. Harris’ 2014 novel ‘Console Wars’.
Sega at that time of course, is a smaller, scrappy gaming company, despite being founded since the 1960s. So seeing all the behind-the-scenes goings-on as they go toe to toe with Nintendo, one of the oldest (founded in 1889!) and most powerful video game companies in the world is definitely interesting.
Who is Involved in Making This TV Series?
Legendary TV and Point Grey Pictures are teaming up to bring the console war to life. The latter company of course, belonging to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. According to Deadline, Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct with Mike Rosolio set to write the pilot.
Vogt-Roberts most recently directed Kong: Skull Island and has directed TV shows for Comedy Central and FX. Meanwhile, Rosolio is a writer and producer for Netflix‘ American Vandal. He also is currently writing the screenplay for the Sim City film adapation for Legendary Pictures.
