Nintendo has been under the microscope lately, mainly due to the launch of its Switch game console that is set to become available on March 3. The company’s president, Tatsumi Kimishima, recently stated during a business strategy briefing that about 70 game makers are currently working on about 100 games for the Switch console, which is a considerable improvement when compared to previous reports, which stated that more than 50 game software makers were working on 80 titles. Those of you who are particularly fond of mobile gaming, though, will be glad to know that Nintendo plans to release two or three major mobile games each year.
Diehard gamers are usually quick to dismiss mobile titles, but even though some people have refused to take these projects seriously until now, it’s becoming harder and harder to dismiss them, especially since they’re becoming much more appealing both graphics-wise and from a gameplay perspective. For example, a new Fire Emblem title and Animal Crossing are just two of Nintendo’s most popular games for smartphones. As for the Switch, it will likely compete with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One titles, at least price-wise, but we’ll just have to wait and see if it will be up to par with gamers’ expectations.
