No Start Button In Windows 8.1 (Build 9369)

Microsoft’s Windows OS has been in the news a lot recently, in fact if you’ve missed out on some of the hottest developments then you can check those below:

That said more developments have now emerged with regards to Windows 8.1, or Windows Blue as some may still know it by. The latest build, 9369, which was literally leaked only today shows that Microsoft will indeed be pursuing the no start button route. This is both surprising and unsurprising at the same time. Surprising because Microsoft was forced to seriously rethink its start button implementation after intense criticism of Windows 8 which mainly focused around the removal of the start buttom. This resulted in a lot of industry speculation that Microsoft was actually rethinking the start button and potentially planning to reinstate it. While it is also unsurprising because the removal of the start button represents Microsoft’s attempt to move the Windows OS forward with a new look, in a classic case of “out with the old and in with the new”.

Microsoft did not choose to comment on this latest development so we still don’t know if the start button will make an official return for the public beta or RTM version, or just be neglected altogether. Since the launch of Windows 8.1 is coming ever closer and we still see no signs of a start button return, it would seem safe to assume that it won’t be coming back any time soon.

What are your thoughts on the latest Windows 8.1 build having no start button? Is that likely to reflect in the final release of Windows 8.1?
