At the risk of offending some fans of TellTale Games, not all of their games are great. I know, blasphemy, but it’s unfortunately true. While their narrative story telling found an excellent home in the Walking Dead games, some other areas have been very hit and miss. Game of Thrones was a pathetic cash-in. Back to the Future, although passable, was not as good as it should have been. I could go on, but what annoys me the most is that with all of this diatribe, one of their best games has been The Wolf Among Us. The fact that TellTale simply do not want to make a sequel is frankly, just baffling.
Not a clue. Seriously, I have no idea. A quick check of the reviews, particularly on Steam, will have you scratching your head too. With respect to TellTale games, aside from the Walking Dead series, they don’t have any other game which is close to the level in which The Wolf Among Us is revered. In regards to the Walking Dead, Telltale released the third season for that just last month.
Getting back to The Wolf Among Us, it’s better to look at reasons why they should make a sequel;
I know, that list makes it all seem so simple, I just can not simply understand why not.
In a recent AMA, the head of communications at TellTale games has said: “We have also been asked over and over again for some insight into the mystery at the end of the finale for [The Wolf Among Us]. Something I’ve always wanted to admit is that while we do have a clear answer to who was who at the end of that story… we had also agreed to keep it a mystery for the fans to ponder on their own.”
I’ve always accepted such evasive answers as suggesting ‘the fans ideas are better than ours’. While a sequel is not ruled out, don’t expect it any time soon.
