Nobody Cares About Banjo-Kazooie, Says Xbox Marketing Head, Greenberg Clarifies

There has been a lot of chatter online after a Spanish YouTuber claimed that Xbox marketing head Aaron Greenberg said, “Nobody cares about Banjo-Kazooie” during a Microsoft Flight Simulator event. The YouTuber, Puerta al Sótano, reported that Greenberg made this comment after asking the audience which games they would like to see return. When Banjo-Kazooie was mentioned, Greenberg allegedly responded with the controversial remark.
However, the statement’s accuracy was initially difficult to verify as Puerta al Sótano’s claim had no solid proof backing it up. Yet, many fans began expressing their concerns that Microsoft might be moving away from reviving the beloved franchise.
Greenberg Responds to the Controversy
Aaron Greenberg addressed the controversy directly on X, confirming that his comment was meant sarcastically, adding that the tone might have been lost due to language differences among the audience.
Radio host and Xbox enthusiast, Parris Lilly, also weighed in on the ResetEra forum. He couldn’t confirm the statement, explaining that he wasn’t present when it was made. However, Lilly defended the Xbox brand, saying, “If Banjo wasn’t interesting, they wouldn’t continue to sell the merchandise.”
Despite the clarification, the situation has added fuel to concerns that Microsoft may be abandoning older intellectual properties like Banjo-Kazooie, especially as Rare, the studio behind Banjo-Kazooie, has shown little interest in reviving it.
For fans hoping for a return of Banjo-Kazooie, Greenberg’s sarcastic comment may not sit well, but it seems, for now, that Xbox has no major plans to bring the series back to life.
