Noctua Expands A-Series Fan Lineup

Noctua announced new additions to their A-series fan lineup two weeks ahead of Computex. The new additions include a 40mm model, a slim 120mm model and a 200mm model. All three fans have the A-series fan lineup signature features such as Flow Acceleration Channels and Advanced Acoustic Optimisation frames. As usual, Noctua aims to design these fans to perform while delivering low noise. Each are equipped with SSO2 bearings and the 6-year Noctua warranty. Aside from the new fan models, Noctua is introducing the new NA-FC1 fan controller, NA-SAV3 and NA-SAV4 mounts and NA-SAC5 SATA power cable adapter.

The 200mm and the slim 120mm model are popular requested fan models that Noctua has been working on for several years now. The Austrian company has even demonstrated several prototypes through the years at Computex, but now they are finally available. The NF-A4x20, on the other hand, is a highly requested product from Noctua’s industrial clients.

The delay in product release mostly has to do with some design challenges that Noctua worked on when trying to adapt their existing technologies to a larger size. bigger fan has different load requirements for the bearing and Noctua had to make some adjustments to make the design work. In the NF-A20, Noctua increased the diameter of the axis and the bearing from 3mm to 4mm. They also switched to a reinforced polypropylene material instead of standard fibreglass reinforced PBT. This reduced the mass of the impeller by 26% compared to the PBT material.
