Noctua Launching Three Special Edition AM4 CPU Coolers

In anticipation for the launch of AMD’s latest AM4 Ryzen CPU, Austrian manufacturer Noctua is re-launching three of their award-winning models as special edition AM4 versions.

“AMD’s Ryzen architecture promises exciting possibilities for various applications and the NH-D15, NH-U12S and NH-L9x65 are some of our most popular models, so it was a natural choice to create dedicated special editions for the new platform,” says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). “Each of these coolers has received more than 100 awards and recommendations from international websites and magazines, so we’re confident that the SE-AM4 special editions will be a great choice for anything from compact ITX builds to overclocked gaming rigs.”

These special edition AM4 models will come with a variant of Noctua’s SecuFirm2 mounting system tailored for the new AM4 socket. While the AM4 socket remains similarly rectangular as the AM2, AM3, FM1 and FM2 sockets, the mounting holes themselves had to be moved on the motherboard in order to accommodate extra traces required for the more complicated AM4 CPU. Noctua uses their own backplate and mounting system instead of utilizing AMD’s built-in backplate and retention mechanism so these new mounting system updated is required.

The Noctua NH-D15 is designed for high-end air cooling, while the NH-U12S is ideal for most mainstream PCs and some moderate overclocks. The NH-L9x65 on the other hand is designed for HTPCs and offer a much quieter alternative than most stock coolers. These three should cover the spectrum of AMD Ryzen CPU uses and will be ready for them right out of the box.

For existing Noctua customers, a free upgrade is also available. Users can request an AM4 upgrade kit through Noctua’s website (http://www.noctua.at) requiring only a proof of purchase such as an electronic version, scan or photo of the invoice. The AM4 mounting kit can also be purchased separately for EUR 7.90/USD 7.90.
