At Computex 2011 Noctua have been showing a wide range of new cooling systems. One of them is a Compact and low profile CPU cooler much like the one Scythe released not that long ago, see here for that. The cooler is based on a low profile heat sink arrangement with a direct contact base. The dense aluminum heat sink has two fans, a 120mm fan on the top (which has Noctua’s new focussed airflow design on it which forces air towards the centre of the fan) and a 92mm NF-B9 fan on the bottom. The cooler also contains 4 heat pipes.
The cooler much like the Scythe low profile cooler has three modes, optimal cooling mode whereby the cooler is 91mm high and has both a top and bottom fan. Low profile mode where the cooler has just one fan on the bottom, no fan on top and is only 66mm high. High clearance mode where the cooler has no fan on the bottom and a fan on top and so is 91mm high.
