Nofan CR-95C IcePipe Copper CPU Cooler Review

The NoFan CR-95C is an interesting product when it comes to making a final judgement. It is difficult, and slightly pointless, to try and compare it to actively cooled CPU coolers because they are designed in a fundamentally different way. I’ve had a lot of people say to me, why don’t you test the NoFan CR-95C with a big fan on top and see if it improves temperatures? To which I’ve answered no, because its made by the company NoFan for a reason – not to be used with fans.

Ultimately the results you achieve with the NoFan CR-95C will vary a lot depending on what case you put it in and whether the environment it is situated in has high airflow or not. Although, the NoFan CR-95C is engineered to be able to deal with low airflow environments – it is a cooler that should certainly not be underestimated.

People who require absolute silence in their system are a niche market because the CR-95C isn’t your everyday CPU cooler, you have to pay a premium for total silence. The type of people who would be interested in buying a CPU cooler like this are also the type of people who would get a passive graphics card, passive power supply, passive case and use SSDs instead of mechanical hard drives to keep noise minimal. We think it ruins the value of the product if you have another “loud” component in your system, because then you won’t be able to notice the large “noise saving” the NoFan CR-95C gives.

If you’re the kind of user who is frustrated with a noisy computer and you’ve realised the noisiest part of your computer is the CPU cooler, then we’d definitely say to you that this is a product to strongly consider. Providing you meet the space, RAM and processor requirements of this cooler, it really is a fantastic breath of fresh air. NoFan have taken the CPU cooler market, and turned it upside down.

At £74 for the Copper Version and £94 for the Nickel Plated version, the No Fan CR-95C is not cheap. But I challenge you find another CPU cooler offering 0 dBA noise output and capable of taming high performance processors, let alone costing less than £74. We’ve struggled to find many retailers that actually stock the NoFan CR-95C, but QuietPC currently have lots in stock so we’d recommend getting it from there – plus they will ship to most locations across the world.

NoFan have come up with one of the most unique CPU coolers we have ever seen. It looks fantastic, is 100% silent (no marketing gimmicks here), performs well enough to suit the majority of computers and is price extremely competitively given the fact NoFan has very few competitors to go up against.

As a consequence of that, we’d like to award the NoFan CR-95C IcePipe Copper CPU cooler with the eTeknix innovation award.
