Nofan CR-95C IcePipe Copper CPU Cooler Review

The included mounting materials are actually quite simple and easy to use. As you can see you get 4 backplate fixing bolts, the backplate, 4 “nipples” and 4 “nipple” fixing bolts. There is also some thermal grease included, but we used our own to keep the test results fair and comparable. There are supplied kits to help you mount Intel or AMD – but there is no LGA 2011 support as the TDP of those is too high for this cooler to cope with.

The installation procedure is reasonably simple, at least for socket LGA 1155 which we tested it on. First you affix the backplate to your motherboard, ensuring the padded side touches the bottom of the motherboard to prevent shorting and that the holes line up properly. Next you must put the long screws, or backplate fixing bolts, through the backplate and your motherboard. You can then secure the backplate and fixing screws into place by using the silver and gold “nipples” – which for convenience we will call cylinders. First you put the fixing screws through the silver cylinders and then secure the backplate by locking the fixing screws into the gold cylinders on top of the silver cylinders. The manual will show this more clearly.

With your backplate secured into place you can then remove the protective covering on your CPU cooler’s base, add thermal paste to your processor and sit the cooler into place. You should then use the spring loaded silver screws to secure to cooler to the golden cylinders. Note if you haven’t secured the golden cylinders to the backplate strongly enough, then your screws will simply turn the golden cylinders round as you screw them in. I recommend installing one screw in the bottom left mounting hole, then one in the top right, then adding the other two. Make sure you only screw them in firmly at first, then once all screws are in you can tighten things up.

It is very important to note all RAM must be installed before the CPU cooler goes on. Any RAM over 32mm in height will not fit at all.
