Performance

Noontec is keen to promote the “TV” features of this headset. Although, I can’t help but feel that’s selling it short. What we have here is a premium set of Bluetooth headphones. You can pair them up with any other Bluetooth device, so they’ll work perfectly on your mobile device, laptop, or anything else that typically takes a Bluetooth connection. However, when the hub is connected, as soon as you turn on the base unit, it’ll automatically pair nearly instantly; allowing you to take them into TV mode whenever you need to.

Setting them up is easy enough. You can run the 3.5mm jack from the headphone socket on your TV, amp, Hi-Fi, or whatever you need; plug that into the dock, and it’ll just work. There’s a set of red and white phono cables too. So you can hook it up to more devices dependant on which connection you have. I have an amp with a “Zone 2” output and found that works very well. This way, it doesn’t disable my surround speakers once the headset has been connected to it.

With a range of 10 meters, it’s unlikely you’ll have any connectivity issues with this headset. By the time you’re that far away from the TV, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to see it unless you have a massive home cinema. By using Bluetooth, you also get crystal clear quality, and there’s none of that interference that used to plague the older RF wireless headphones, and the latency is extremely low, so no complaints here. They only support Bluetooth 4.0 though, but with AptX support from the dock, you do get decent quality.

Regarding performance, I can’t really fault the drivers. They’re loud enough and have a decent bass response, but it’s obvious that they’re not tuned to blow your head off with a big cinema feel; it’s not about the design here. They sound pretty balanced (what some may call flat), and have a natural sound, which makes listening to movies, music and TV a joy in general, with clear dialogue and plenty of detail in the mid ranges.
