Nostalgia Incoming With The Hyperkin Retro Xbox Controller

The world of gaming isn’t just for anti social, socially awkward teens who squeal down their microphones, or those bro types in their 20’s who spend their lives on Fifa. Hyperkin have realised this and are releasing a retro xbox controller, immediately interesting those who lived through the golden age of gaming.
The Hyperkin X91 is a retro style Xbox One controller, that brings back fond memories of the days when controllers weren’t as big as the console, it’s sleek, compact and simple. Yet, it still packs all the features of the typical Xbox controller.
There has been a resurgence of retro released lately, with Nintendo’s re-release of their NES proving to be a very popular hit. It’s also possible to pick up the Sega Mega Drive with pre-installed games as well as accepting original cartridges too.
It makes you wonder why companies insist on making their controllers so big and bulky, or not offer a slimline alternative of their own, there is definitely a market for retro style gaming gear, I’m surprised they haven’t committed to it a little more.
The X91 is set for release on the 21st Feb, and is currently priced at $29.99. The colours available so far are white, black and red, but I expect they’ll add more colours if the product sells as well as expected.
The X91 also features a 3.5mm headphone jack and is also compatible with Windows 10, although I assume it will be possible to get it to work on older versions of Windows also. The X91 packs all the features of a modern controller, into a small 90’s styled device, and I for one actually quite like it, but as of yet there is no word on a UK release date. There is also no mention of a wireless version in the pipeline so for now you are tethered to your console or PC,
Would you buy the X91?
