NSA To Replace Snowden’s Job With Computers To Prevent Future Leaks

The director of the NSA has announced that Snowden’s job at the NSA will be replaced by computer systems to prevent future data leaks, RT reports. Additionally, The NSA now plans to drastically cut the number of staff employed as system administrators in order to cut the risk.

General Keith Alexander stated that “What we’re in the process of doing – not fast enough – is reducing our systems administrators by about 90 per cent…We’ve put people in the loop of transferring data, securing networks and doing things that machines are probably better at doing,” he said, going on to describe how technology will make NSA secrets “more defensible and more secure”.

Furthermore General Keith Alexander defended the conduct of the NSA claiming its actions had been grossly mischaracterised by the media.

“No one has willfully or knowingly disobeyed the law or tried to invade your civil liberties or privacies. There were no mistakes like that at all”, said Keith Alexander.

In future the NSA will require a 2-man authorisation system for classified data in an effort to prevent unauthorised disclosures. The amount of power systems administrators have is enough for the NSA to employ a much more rigorous system of checks and balances.
