Nvidia 3090 Ti Tear Downs Suggest PCB May Be Precursor for 4000-Series

Immediately prior to the release of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, there were more than a few rumours suggesting that the technology, and specifically the PCB, utilised within the design was something of a precursor to the upcoming 4000-series of graphics cards set for release later this year. In other words, the 3090 Ti was representative of something of a moderate testing ground as to what the 4000-series of graphics cards might, in terms of its physical design, represent.

While this was, at the time, just a theory, following a report via Videocardz, various tear downs of 3090 Ti graphics cards have been conducted and based on what’s been seen (on both Founders Edition and AIB models) we do appear to have confirmation that the 3090 Ti is, for all intents and purposes, a precursor to what we might have to come!

Nvidia 3090 Ti = Nvidia 4000?…

So, why are the 3090 Ti PCBs something of a clue towards the upcoming Nvidia 4000-series of graphics cards? Well, predominantly, it lies within what’s not there at the moment. Although the current power delivery systems have been designed towards its 450W TGP, there’s plenty of open space for this to be easily adapted into the full-blown PCIe 5.0 600W standard. And more so, potentially two of the new 16-pin connectors for the more powerful variants such as, merely, for example, the 4090.

Why is this important though? Well, as per the rumour above, this would suggest that the PCB for the 3090 Ti is effectively a ‘teaser’ of what Nvidia plans to do to make this entirely viable for the 4000-series of GPUs.

So What?…

Yes, admittedly, this might on the surface sound rather drab. On the other hand though, if the 3090 Ti PCB is effectively the template for the Nvidia 4000-series, then given the fact that the 3090 Ti exists, and is available right now, this all but confirms that development on their next-gen GPUs might be well underway and possibly even completed. Could this mean that, following some prior rumours, an Nvidia 4000 series release may be coming much sooner than anyone suspects?…. We’ll have to wait and see.
