Nvidia 4060 Performance Leak Suggests its Roughly on Par With the 3060 Ti

Based on all information which has appeared online so far, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 isn’t expected to be released until early 2023. The overwhelming theory behind this is that Nvidia wants to give its 40XX entry/mid-tier options a little bit of a delay to allow its masses of 30XX stock to dwindle out a little. – With that being said though, with many consumers having now chosen to simply wait for their next-gen GPUs, Nvidia clearly finds itself in a difficult position.

Following a fresh Twitter post from leak source ‘@Kopite7Kimi‘, however, if you are perhaps considering something like the Nvidia 4060, then information has appeared online suggesting that, in terms of performance, it’s looking to be roughly about on par with the current-gen 3060 Ti. In other words, the generational leap for this GPU doesn’t look to be that overly huge!

According to the report, the AD106 chipset (widely believed to be set for the Nvidia 4060) is currently providing a Time Spy Extreme score of around 7,000 points. This is about 2,000 more than the 3060, but, depending on the particular model, about 1,000 below the 3060 Ti. – Put simply, it does seem to suggest that the Nvidia 4060 is currently somewhere between those two GPUs in terms of performance.

While this might sound a little disappointing on the surface, however, there is potentially some good news here. Firstly, as noted at the beginning, the 4060 might still be as much as 6 months away from release. This means that there is still plenty of time for this result to get better. More than this though, if you were planning for an entry-level Nvidia 40XX GPU like the 4060, well… This information would seem to suggest that if you see a solid deal now for something like the 3060 Ti you’re not going to regret it. Particularly since the 3060 Ti is shortly rumoured to be getting a pretty solid upgrade to GDDR6X.
