The Coalition, a Microsoft subsidiary, has now revoked a group of Gears of War 4 keys which are now said to have been “obtained illegitimately” through an Nvidia promotion.
“We detected some Gears 4 Windows 10 keys were obtained illegitimately via our Nvidia promotion,” said Community Director Adam Fletcher. “We have gone ahead and revoked keys that fell in this bucket. If you believe your key was incorrectly revoked, we highly recommend you contact Nvidia support with proof of purchase to help out with this.” he added.
Basically, if you ordered a GTX 1070 through Amazon, which resulted in the free code being emailed to you after purchase, then cancelled the order before Amazon dispatched the game, only to keep the game for yourself for free, Nvidia has clocked onto your sneaky ways and taken their games back. Which will no doubt cause even more troubles for those who did this trick to simply re-sell the key online.
