Nvidia DLSS Source Code Leaks Online Following Hacking Incident!

I daresay that if you’ve been paying attention to the technology news over the last few days, you’re undoubtedly aware that Nvidia was recently subjected to what appeared to be a pretty significant hacking incident. With the graphics card manufacturer having finally publically confirmed that their systems were compromised (about 5 days after it took place), it is still a matter of speculation as to exactly what files and documentation may have been stolen.

Following a report via TechPowerUp, however, information has appeared online that, for all intents and purposes, appears to be the source code for Nvidia’s DLSS technology. – Put simply, this could be very serious stuff!

Nvidia DLSS Source Leaks Online

It should be noted that this leak has only recently been discovered and it is still pending categorical confirmation that this is 100% Nvidia’s DLSS source code. If it is, however, then it’s hard to understate not just how important these files are, but more so, how Nvidia will not want the general public, let alone their competitors, poking around in it!

What is source code though? Well, in a very oversimplified manner, if ketchup is the end product that consumers receive, the source code is all the ingredients and specific methodology of how it is created.

Is It Legit?…

Based on the general configuration and format of the leak (with a number of C++ and C header programming files included) it does appear that this is indeed the DLSS source code (likely version 2.2). In regards to its source, our best guess is that this has come from a part of the ‘taster’ torrent the hacking group who infiltrated Nvidia has posted online.

With this information available for pretty much anyone to access, however, the potential of what could be learned from this is clearly quite interesting. Not just from an enthusiast user point of view, but also for those with involvement at Linux, AMD, and Intel.

More than anything though, if this is just a taster of what the hacking group has obtained, then Nvidia clearly has some very big things to worry about over the coming days and weeks.
