Nvidia Flexing Latest GPUs and VR at Computex

Nvidia have a lot to show off this year, the only downside? Pretty much everyone already knows what all of it is! I am of course talking about the new Nvidia GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards, the latest high-end gaming hardware from the world’s most popular GPU manufacturer.

The setup that Nvidia have this year at Computex is quite simply huge, with HDR 4K displays, high frame rate displays, extreme gaming rigs equipped with the latest hardware, including their new GPUs, obviously. We’ve also got a colossal amount of VR hardware to play around with. This is often the best kind of exhibit, as rather than standing around and talking about the tech (which we love doing by the way), you get to really get hands on with it, play it, feel it, experience what it has to offer first hand.

No doubt about it, the GTX 1080 running Doom and Rise of the Tomb Raider proved a big hit, flawless framerates, every graphics setting dialed up to the max, PC gaming as it should be.

Glorious HDR, a lovely treat if you have a display that is capable (most 2016 UHD TVs are).

Some impressive demos of Ansel, the capture software for games that lets you take a 360 degree look around a gaming landscape.

Mirror’s edge looking a stunning as ever, and better yet on the GTX 1080.

The 1070 made easy work of Tomb Raider too, so much so you wouldn’t notice the difference between this and the 1080.

The star of the show.

VR Tennis anyone? We were eager for a go, but this room was pretty busy, and we’re not exactly lacking in VR experience. Either way, with the new GPUs powering VR gaming to new highs and faster framerates, it’s going to be a strong year for Nvidia.

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
