Well we all knew there would be something to knock AMD down a peg, and it seems Nvidia isn’t going to take the AMD R9 290X laying downing. Question is, will it be the Titan Ultra or a cut down edition of the Titan, Nvidia could either go for gold and steal the power crown or go for something mass market that could attract the mid market, either method would steam some of the thunder from AMD’s launch.
While the current Titan runs on an rough GK110, a fully fledged pedal to the metal set of GK110 cores could blow anything else on the market out of the water in terms of performance. GK110 is capable of bringing massive improvements with Double Precision, more power and it can do it all within the same heat envelope.
The card is rumoured to be revealed at the Motreal Gaming Event on the 16th and 17th of October. Speculation is wild at the moment, but current bets are favouring the Titan Ultra, with a cut down Titan in second place and the far out guess at the reveal would be something like the Dual GTX 790, although that is very doubtful.
The great war between the red team and the green team is far from over and this is quickly heating up to be quite the battle.
Which would you prefer, a more affordable and cut down Titan, or a new top of the range ultra expensive power house?
