Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti May Launch at CES 2017

After releasing their top end Titan X Pascal, Nvidia is ready to follow up with their next high-end graphics card under the GeForce banner. Using the same GP102 silicon as the Titan X Pascal, the GeForce 1080 Ti is reportedly in the works for a launch in early 2017. According to the latest report, the green team will unveil their top GeForce model at CES, the major consumer event held every January at Las Vegas.

Right now, the source has some tentative specifications for the GTX 1080 Ti. Utilizing a cut-down GP102, 26 of 30 streaming multi-processors will be enabled. This will give us 3328 CUDA cores with a TMU count of 208 and ROPs at the standard 96. Just like the Titan X Pascal, it will feature GDDR5X over a 384bit bus with 12GB of VRAM in total. GPU core clock speeds are set at 1503 MHz stock, with 1623 MHz Boost; respectable but not too high as expected.

The real deal of course, will come in the pricing. With the GeForce GTX 1080 at about $599-$699  and the Titan X Pascal at $1199, there is quite a lot of room for Nvidia to slot the GTX 1080 Ti in. Given the expected specifications, I would expect the price to be closer to the Titan X than the GTX 1080. None the less, I expect it will be a much better value than the Titan X Pascal.
