We have been eagerly awaiting the correct and confirmed specifications for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980Ti for a few weeks and now it seems that we have them confirmed by ASUS. This is a pretty solid confirmation, it’s not a random confirmation from a forum or a lesser known website.
We already knew the basics: 6GB VRAM, PCI-e 3.0, 7010MHz memory clock, 1GHz/ 1076MHz core/ boost clock; what we have been waiting for is the core count. The Titan X has a CUDA core count of 3072, the GTX 980 has 2048; so it would make sense for the GTX 980Ti to have somewhere in the middle. Nope, it has around 90% of the cores of the Titan X; 2816 to be exact.
The constant flow of information coming in, we have to be expecting the release of the GTX 980Ti very soon; my guess would be for the launch of Computex so that is all the participants will talk about, steal AMD’s thunder. However, AMD seems to have pre-emptively fixed this by having the Radeon 300 series launch at E3.
Pricing is still under wraps, but if the specifications are around 90%; we could see pricing around 75-90%.
