Whenever a new visual masterpiece arrives on the PC, it’s important to use a driver which has the necessary optimisations. Of course, performance tends to improve over time through post-release patches and driver enhancements. Despite this, NVIDIA and AMD need to work hard and help to uphold the better possible launch experience through a regular driver cycle. Thankfully, both companies have achieved this and managed to unveil a driver in time for Forza Horizon 3’s launch. In particular, NVIDIA’s 372.90 driver focuses on Forza Horizon 3 and adds an SLI profile for ARK. Apart from that, there’s not a huge amount of changes barring some minor bug fixes such as flickering in SWTOR.
Given this is the first time Forza Horizon’s vast open world has been accessible to PC gamers, I’m interested to see how a wide range of graphics cards behave at varying resolutions. Apparently, the game is locked to 60 frames-per-second which makes benchmarking tricky. Hopefully, a modder or update is able to resolve this technical limitation. Whatever the case, I’m really excited by Forza Horizon 3 and the reviews so far are extremely promising.
