Nvidia have released the “A New Dawn” tech demo for its GTX 600 series cards. The first instalment of the Nvidia tech demo came back in 2002 and this latest instalment has come a very long way in terms of graphical quality. The tech demo is designed to show the maximum capabilities of what Nvidia Kepler GPUs can do.
The tech demo features DirectX 11 tessellation, over four million triangles on undergrowth, trees and living vines, 40,000 strands of realistically rendered Dawn’s hair, and sub-surface scattering feature that makes Dawn’s skin even more real.
System requirements will probably hold most people back, GTX 670 SLI is required as a minimum starting point. Apparently it can be run on GTX 500 series cards but you’d probably need 3 or 4 of them to match the tessellation performance of two GTX 670s in SLI. The full system requirements are:
- GPU: GTX 670 SLI or higher
- CPU: 2.5GHz dual-core or higher
- System Memory: 4GB
- Disk Space: 1GB
- Operating System: Windows 7/Vista
If you’ve got all those system requirements to spare then why not give “A New Dawn” tech demo a download from here.
Fear not, if you do not possess the required hardware then you can watch a video of the tech demo below in HD:
