NVIDIA has unveiled the revenue figures for the first quarter, ending May 1st, 2016 which makes for some impressive reading. Firstly, their revenue reached $1.30 billion which is an increase of 13 percent from the $1.15 billion figure a year earlier. Although, it’s seven percent less than the $1.40 billion result during the previous quarter. GAAP earnings per diluted share came to $0.33 compared to $0.24 last year. This is a staggering improvement of 38 percent. Once again, there’s a slight drop compared to the last quarter from $0.35 to $0.33.
NVIDIA’s co-founder and CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang said about the financial results:
“We are enjoying growth in all of our platforms — gaming, professional visualization, datacenter and auto,”
“Accelerating our growth is deep learning, a new computing model that uses the GPU’s massive computing power to learn artificial intelligence algorithms. Its adoption is sweeping one industry after another, driving demand for our GPUs.
“Our new Pascal GPU architecture will give a giant boost to deep learning, gaming and VR. We are excited to bring a new wave of innovations to the markets we serve. Pascal processors are in full production and will be available later this month,”
