Nvidia Reveal Insane Performance of RTX 4090 in Overwatch 2

While there have been plenty of leaks about the upcoming Nvidia RTX 4000 series graphics cards, it seems today we have something official to share with you. Of course, I take leaks and marketing materials with an equally sized pinch of salt. However, it’s no surprise that everything we’re hearing is saying the same thing, these new graphics cards are going to be pretty damn fast!
Nvidia has shared some performance figures for Overwatch 2. That’s a good move, with Overwatch 2 having just released, and the new cards on the horizon. I doubt your typical Overwatch 2 player is going to be dropping big money on the RTX 4090. However, for the eSports teams out there, having a frame rate in the hundreds, low latency, and high resolution is going to be a real game changer.
Overwatch 2
If you’re rocking something extremely like the ASUS ROG Swift 500Hz monitor, you’ll be glad to hear Blizzard increased the frame cap in Overwatch 2 to a staggering 600 FPS. A big step up from the previous 400. Amazingly, it seems the RTX 4090 can deliver a whopping 507 FPS at 1440p in Overwatch 2. This was done on a system running the i9-12900K… and it was done with the graphics set to ultra… wow. Of course, high FPS isn’t always needed, but such a lightening fast refresh rate brings another benefit, with Nvidia Reflex reducing system latency by up to 60%.
The RTX 4080 16GB is no slouch either, delivering around 368 FPS, while the RTX 4080 12GB delivered 296 FPS. That’s a big increase over the last generation, and again, it’s going to give competitive gamers an edge in competition.
