Despite there being more than a few rumours to the existence of a planned Nvidia 2060 release (including an actual graphics card that was leaked last week) we should note that officially Nvidia has issued zero confirmation that the range exists at all. I can honestly say that as to the best of my knowledge we haven’t even received an NDA about it here at eTeknix. In a report via Videocardz though, retailers have seemingly just started receiving the official advertising banners.
While this, in itself, may not sound too interesting, it does confirm one major factor of debate surrounding the card!
There has been more than a little debate surrounding whether the 2060 graphics card would feature the RTX (ray tracing) technology. For example, it has already been proven that even 2080 cards struggle to get the best from it. As such, how could a presumably watered down version work? It led to a lot of speculation that the card may, instead, be referred to as the GTX 2060. A claim we’ve seen a number of sources start to use regularly.
With this advertising leak though, it would appear to confirm that, at least to some degree, the 2060 will be an RTX card.
Despite many leaks surrounding the card, at present, we still do not have a confirmed specification. As such, it’s really difficult to ascertain just how powerful this is going to be. There are more than a few indications to suggest that Nvidia may hold off the release of this until AMD puts out their Navi GPU range in the Summer. Ironically, for once Nvidia are going to be taking AMD on it seems.
Either way, with the 1060 being so popular, the 2060 will clearly have a lot of interest behind it.
