Ratchet & Clank

Blast your way through an interdimensional adventure with Ratchet and Clank – now on PC! Help them take on an evil emperor from another reality as you jump between action-packed worlds and beyond at hyper-speed!

Available now on Steam.

Moving over to Ratchet & Clank at 1080p on the very high preset, and the 4070 was only just ahead of the 7700 XT and fell behind the 3080 Ti, whereas the 4070 SUPER makes up for it with a small marginal lead and an uplift over the non-SUPER of 9% which is welcoming, but things still fall short when compared to the 7800 XT, where NVIDIA also seem to suffer quite dramatically in this title in terms of the 1% lows.

At 1440p, we do get a 14% uplift in performance over the non-SUPER which also now means that NVIDIA sit above the 7800 XT but again, it’s really hard to ignore, that while it’s 2 FPS faster, it’s also $100 more expensive, so personally, the AMD have it beat yet again.

It’s a similar gain of 12% in terms of improvement over the RTX 4070 at 4K, which now edges past the 7800 XT but 6% isn’t enough to make it a valid price proposition and I’d chalk that up as another win for team red based on value for money.

When enabling Ray Tracing at 1080p, the 46% improvement is definitely more like it, as the SUPER now propels past anything AMD have to offer especially as that means NVIDIA come out 40% faster overall compared to the 7800 XT, and this is definitely more like it. 20% more cost, 40% more performance. It’s just a shame that not every game is like this.

1440p keeps up the performance improvements as the SUPER lends itself another 15% more performance over the predecessor, which now means the 4070 SUPER sits 47% ahead of the 7800 XT from AMD. Things are definitely starting to look up.

4K was looking pretty dire for the RTX 4070, let’s be honest at just 15 FPS, though the 4070 SUPER smashed it with a 160% increase in performance, now sitting just below the RTX 4070 Ti. We did think this was odd, so re-tested but got the same 15 FPS result for the 4070 so this newer title is really able to harness the extra RT cores to its full advantage.
