NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti Review

Power, Temperatures & Acoustics

So it’s pretty clear to see that NVIDIA still holds the torch in upscaling technologies, which when coupled with Ray Tracing, does allow for some pretty stunning visuals, while also getting some solid numbers in terms of performance.

The other area of performance that I want to touch on comes down to thermals, power and cooling. We will have more content delving into the Gigabyte card as a whole, but to talk about the 4070 Ti as a GPU, regardless of the cooler, we booted up F1 22 and stuck it on a loop. During this we found the GPU temperature sitting around the 64 degrees mark throughout the run, and the memory junction temperature sat at about the same point the whole time, at a pretty steady 66 degrees. Our hotspot temperature managed to stay at a relatively modest 74 degrees throughout the test with only minor fluctuations a few degrees either way. That lower temperature is probably what allows the core frequency to stay so steadily boosted to above 2800MHz during our test with the GPU remaining around the 260 Watt mark with the occasional spike up to 270 Watts in a few places while the fans stayed at a pretty reasonable 1400rpm which was fairly quiet overall.

Peter Donnell

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
