3DMark Timespy Extreme

Time Spy Extreme is a new 4K DirectX 12 benchmark test, available in 3DMark Advanced and Professional Editions. You don’t need a 4K monitor to run it, but you will need a GPU with at least 4 GB of dedicated memory. With its 4K Ultra HD rendering resolution, Time Spy Extreme is an ideal benchmark test for the latest high-end graphics cards. The CPU test has been redesigned to let processors with 8 or more cores perform to their full potential

So kicking things off with synthetic benchmarks and Timespy Extreme where we do see a clear uptake from the 3070 Ti with the 4070 Ti coming in with a 42% better score and 51% better graphics score. This now puts the 4070 Ti just below last generation’s flagship 3090 Ti though the newest offering from AMD still manages to push ahead.

3DMark Port Royal

3DMark Port Royal is the world’s first real-time ray tracing benchmark for gamers. It shows you how well your PC handles ray-tracing effects in real time. In Port Royal, which is a Ray Tracing based benchmark, we find the 4070 Ti, again, just behind the 3090 Ti, though this time, the stronger Ray Tracing performance now puts it ahead of the 7900 XT, though only with a 4% margin. Again though, the uplift from the 3070 Ti is substantial at 61% overall  in the score and 60% in the FPS.

A benchmark for both CPU and GPU performance that is a great basis for comparing the video and graphics editing capabilities of any system.

In more of a productivity focussed benchmark, we do see the 4070 Ti coming in the middle of our stack, with performance that rivals the 3090 Ti. Sure the extra memory will account for some extra performance, but it’s still nice to see such a large uplift from the generation before.
