Nvidia RTX 4080 Super Founders Edition Graphics Card Review
Peter Donnell / 10 months ago
The latest Nvidia Super cards have been released over the last few weeks, starting with the Nvidia RTX 4070 Super, then the 4070 Ti Super and now, the final addition to the bunch, the RTX 4080 Super. With the RTX 4070 Ti and the RTX 4080 now going end-of-life, the new Super cards will replace those models, but the RTX 4070 non-Super will remain on sale but at a lower price, at least for now. We’ve seen from our recent reviews of these new cards that there’s not a big performance improvement, which was surprising given the noticeably upgraded specifications of each card. However, they are hitting the market at the same MSRP as the non-Super cards, so it’s really hard to complain about anyway. Alas, maybe we’ll see some more performance improvements in the RTX 4080 Super, and likely even more so when their drivers mature, but only time will tell.
The RTX 4080 Super features more cores across the board, which gives it a small performance uplift over its non-Super sibling. This is a more premium card built for high refresh rate and high-resolution gaming too, so it features 16GB of GDD6X, and if it can improve on the performance of the RTX 4080 then all the better, as the RTX 4080 is a beast of a card for gaming and while it’s expensive, it’s still a far cry from the price of the flagship RTX 4090.
