Benchmarks – Ray Tracing
Star Wars Lift Demo
Much like Final Fantasy XV, this is the only Ray Tracing demo available to us at this time. In fact, it’s not even available to the public at the time of writing. However, we will expand on this as more become available. With RTX 2080 FE and the MSI RTX 2080 Trio X, the demo rocks up at 49 FPS on average. Without a doubt, this is with extremely high fidelity settings on the demo and will no doubt prove to be one of the more demanding benchmarks we see.
The RTX 2080 Ti, however, managed an average of 64 FPS at 1440p. The frame rate practically halved at 4K, but that’s to be expected. It’s impossible to say what impact RT would have on games, as this demo is incredibly limited and detailed. Games would likely target a more complex but somewhat lower fidelity scene, and use RT in different ways. Either way, it’s the most amazing visuals I’ve ever seen on a home computer, with zero exceptions. It’s hard to really believe it’s real time if I’m honest.
