NVIDIA’s new RTX Video HDR technology is now available to use through the NVIDIA Studio Drivers which effectively transforms SDR video playing to HDR videos in web browsers.
NVIDIA RTX Video HDR
RTX Video HDR was first announced at CES and it is a tool which uses AI to enhance standard dynamic range videos into stunning high dynamic range videos on internet browsers, its similar to the existing RTX Video Super Resolution which it can work in tandem with. The video from NVIDIA below demonstrates RTX Video HDR.
RTX Video as the name suggests, requires an RTX series graphics card and a display with HDR 10 compatibility. RTX Video HDR can be used on Chromium based browsers and can be enabled by following the following steps:
- Download and install the January Studio Driver.
- Ensure Windows HDR features are enabled by navigating to System > Display > HDR.
- Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and navigate to Adjust video image settings > RTX Video Enhancement — then enable HDR.
My display doesn’t support HDR 10 so I won’t personally be trying this out, however if you would like to learn more check out the RTX Video FAQ & NVIDIA Blog Post.
