NVIDIA Rumored to Shift Almost All Production to RTX 50 Series

NVIDIA Rumored to Shift Almost All Production to RTX 50 Series

According to the latest rumors circulating online, NVIDIA seems to be shifting its focus entirely to the upcoming GeForce RTX 50 Series. This move makes perfect sense when considering how close the launch of these new GPUs likely is. Reports suggest that NVIDIA has already issued orders to halt nearly all production of ADA architecture chips powering the RTX 40 Series in favor of the new Blackwell GPUs for the RTX 50.

A Shift Towards Blackwell Architecture

Specifically, the production of NVIDIA’s AD102, AD103, AD104, and AD106 GPUs has reportedly been stopped. The only exception appears to be the AD107, which is used in lower-tier GPUs like the GeForce RTX 4050 and RTX 4060. This aligns with NVIDIA’s traditional approach of prioritizing high-performance GPUs during new launches, so it is expected that the most powerful RTX 50 Series cards will initially coexist with these remaining RTX 40 Series models.

Nvidia RTX

With nearly all of NVIDIA’s GPU production now focused on Blackwell architecture, the launch of the RTX 50 gaming GPUs seems closer than ever. Rumours point to a staggered release starting in the first quarter of 2025. The GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are expected to arrive first in January, followed by the RTX 5070 in February and the RTX 5060 in March. However, NVIDIA has yet to officially confirm these details.
