A Closer Look – Nvidia Shield Tablet
The tablet is very nicely designed, or at least as nicely designed as a tablet can be these days given that most devices look very similar.
The edges of the device are where all the unique features are tucked away, such as the top right corner where you’ll find the stylus.
The Stylus features a hard rubber chiseled tip, it’s also quite heavy which makes it easier to hold and control when in use.
It’s also quite large (compared to the tablet), giving you plenty of room to get a good grip on it.
The back of the Tablet has a hard rubberized coating that makes it easier to get a good grip on it.
There is a 5MP HDR auto-focus camera on the back of the tablet, perfect for taking a few quick snaps or shooting some video.
There is also another 5MP HDR camera on the front, ideal for video calls, skype, or just taking nerdy selfies; the choice is yours.
The top edge has the master power button and a volume up/down toggle button, as well as a MicroSD slot for expanding the tablets storage.
There are two front facing stereo speakers on the Shield Tablet; each has a bass reflex port on the side of the tablet.
Down the left side you’ll find a standard 3.5mm jack which supports 3 and 4-pole devices; perfect for headphones or a chat headset. There’s also a mini-HDMI for video out and a micro-USB port for charging; it also supports USB OTG so you can attach peripherals, flash drives and other compatible devices.
This side features two small cut-outs, which allow for quick mounting of the magnetic Shield Tablet Cover (sold separately).
