A Closer Look – Nvidia Shield Tablet Cover

The Shield Tablet Cover may be an optional extra, but it’s a vital one none the less. As you can see from the image below, the cover has several “modes” which allow it to cover the screen and act as a stand for the tablet.

The cover features a hard plastic strip with two pegs to help it lock into place on the tablet.

The side of the cover that makes contact with the screen has a softer material finish; no doubt used to help prevent it from scratching the screen.

Once the cover is about 1″ from the side of the tablet, the strong magnets quickly pull it in and it snaps into place with ease.

The cover flips over the front of the tablet to protect the screen.

It can then be opened out and folded. A small magnetic strip in the other edge of the cover allows it to lock into a triangle shape so it can be used as a stand for the tablet; it’s worth mentioning that the cover can only be used to stand the tablet in landscape mode.
