A Closer Look – Nvidia Shield Wireless Controller

The controller has a similar style to the original Shield console controller, but with a few major ergonomic tweaks.

You’ll find a -/+ button at the bottom center of the controller; perfect for tweaking game/multimedia volume levels.

The top panel features three touch sensitive buttons for back, start and home. There is also a Shield Hub button in the center for opening up the Shield apps drawer and powering on the controller.

There is a very nice quality D-Pad on the left and two high-quality rubber grip coated analogue sticks.

The layout of this controller is pretty standard stuff and should be more than familiar with any modern gamer who’s used an Xbox or PlayStation controller.

Around the back you’ll find a pair of shoulder buttons and some sprung analogue triggers.

Just behind the home button you’ll find a pin hole microphone, which is perfect for using Google Now, below that you’ll also find a micro USB port for charging and the headset/headphones jack.

The controller has a large ergonomic bump on the underside that makes it very comfortable in your hand; it also makes it easier to get a firm grip on the controller.

When the controller is powered on the Nvidia logo lights up green and the back, start and home buttons glow white.
