Nvidia (Sort Of) Lowers the 4090/4080 MSRP in the UK & Europe

When originally launched back in September, Nvidia confirmed that the 4090 graphics card came with an official UK MSRP of £1,679 whereas the 4080 came in at £1,269. – Now, admittedly, these were the standard base figures which, typically speaking, would only initially apply to their own ‘Founders Edition’ models. With that being said though, the chances of these getting discounted any time soon were clearly more than a little doubtful.
Following an update to the official Nvidia storefront (link here), however, it seems that in both the UK and Europe, the 4090 and 4080 GPUs have just received a circa 5% discount. Before getting too excited though, rather than a price drop purely for the benefit of consumers, this is probably getting more driven by the significantly falling comparative value of the USD (US Dollar) against the Pound and Euro.
Nvidia Reduces 4090/4080 MSRP! – Huzzah I guess!
Based on this update, the Nvidia Founders Edition 4090 is now available to ‘purchase’ (at least in theory since it’s not currently in stock) for £1,599 and the 4080 is finally starting to approach something which I think could be considered only relatively overpriced (coming down from definitely) to £1,199. – Why have the prices fallen so soon though?
Well, predominantly because MSRP figures are traditionally set in USD values, and given how sharply the value of the USD has dropped against the Euro and GBP, it seems that Nvidia has basically just updated the figures to reflect this change more accurately. – With that being said though, even with circa £70 knocked off the price tag, I still don’t think I’m going to be buying either of these.
What do you think though? Is this just enough to spark you into action? – Let us know in the comments!
