Nvidia Spot Brings Google Assistant to the TV and Home

Coinciding with the Nvidia keynote, Google announced that the Google Assistant would be coming to Android TV. One of the first devices to support this new feature is Nvidia’s new Shield streamer. While one might think Google Assistant is tied to the device or TV, Nvidia is planning on bringing it throughout your entire house with the new Nvidia Spot.
Google Assistant is pretty much natural language control over your Android device and this new announcement brings it naturally to the TV. Beyond the TV, Nvidia is envisioning an entire home connected to the AI as well. This is where Nvidia Spot comes in. Plugging into various outlets in your home, the devices all link back to the Shield, with the Shield providing all the processing power. This makes each Spot cheap and small which should make it easier to have many installed.
Each Spot features a far field microphone with beam forming. This allows for multiple devices to directly pinpoint where the user is in the home. With Spot everywhere, Google Assistant can go everywhere as well. Putting the extensive privacy concerns aside, this is basically Jarvis for the masses. Some suggested uses are for lighting, Nest, entertainment and likely home automation going forward. Unfortunately, no pricing is available yet for the Spot and it is set to arrive something int he coming months.
