About a month ago we brought you information that Nvidia’s Project Shield was going on pre-order for $349 with an “end of June” shipping date. Now we are starting to reach the end of June and we’ve managed to get a few more details about Project Shield from Nvidia’s blog.
Nvidia’s Tegra 4 powered Project Shield will now have a reduced price tag of $299, down from $349, and it will be released on June 27th. According to Nvidia’s announcement, people who have pre-ordered at the higher price will be refunded the $50 difference between what they paid and the revised price.
For those who are unaware of Project Shield, or the Nvidia Shield, it is Nvidia’s attempt at creating a handheld portable gaming console. It is powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 4 CPU, has a 1280 by 720 display, has 16GB of internal storage, mini-HDMI, micro-USB 2.0, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, a microSD card slot for storage expansion, 802.11n Wi-Fi, integrated speakers, and a headphone jack.
