Today I am taking a look at the Special Edition of the very popular 810 Switch Full-Tower PC chassis from NZXT, we actually reviewed this chassis back in February when our previous chassis reviewer Luke took a real in-depth look at what the 810 had to offer, you can read that review here, but I’ll link to it at the end of this review also.
Some things have changed since the last time this chassis was reviewed, most importantly our components have been upgraded and I think it will be great to put this chassis through its paces and to get to see what it looks like when fitted with a modular power supply and Antec 920 Kuhler (closed loop) water cooling unit. NZXT were kind enough to send this chassis out to us for further investigation and to help with a couple of other NZXT reviews were doing for some of their new cases accessories, so thank you NZXT for letting us play around with this special edition.
So what is new about this chassis I bet you’re wondering, what is so special about it? well it’s a very special chassis to start with, being one of the finest weapons of choice for the enthusiast case modder, water cooling enthusiast , quad sli loving gamers and of course its just as popular with people that want a great looking case, but there is only one difference between the regular 810 switch and this special edition, it’s the paint job.
A new coat of paint might not sound like much, but if I’ve learnt anything about the PC chassis industry, its that people love a new paint job, with the high gloss white and black already selling well for NZXT, even though in my opinion neither were to my liking in regards to colour and finish, they soon got my attention with the launch of two new colours, matt black and gunmetal grey.
We’ll be taking a look at the matt black edition of the 810 SE today, so come and take a look at the next few pages as I take a closer look at the new paint job before fitting it out with our more upto date review components to see how great this chassis can be. We’ve had to skip over our usual packaging section today though, NZXT were only able to ship the item in a non standard box, but the official packaging is the same as the original 810 switch which you can view here.
